Odoo Point of Sale

A POS holds up or it isn't a POS.

A counter forgives nothing: there is a queue, the printer jams, someone returns an item from three weeks ago and the network goes down exactly on Saturday afternoon. Odoo POS is built for that — the session keeps working when the network drops and syncs on its own when it comes back — and it is not an island either: every receipt draws down the same stock as the website and lands in the same accounting. We add what in Spain is not optional: that it also be certified.

It keeps taking payments offline

The session runs locally and syncs when the connection returns. The day the internet goes down is not the day you close the store, which is exactly what separates a POS from a pretty website with a cash drawer.

Live stock and prices

Every sale draws down the same inventory as the website and the marketplace, and the price lists and promotions are the same ones as in the rest of the ERP. A price change is made once and reaches every counter.

Loyalty and promotions

Cards and points programs, coupons, quantity discounts and promotions with their conditions, applied on the receipt without the clerk doing arithmetic. The customer sees them and the margin stays under control.

Receipt, invoice and certification

Simplified receipt or full invoice with the customer's tax details in the same flow, complying with the Spanish certified invoicing rules — Verifactu and TicketBAI where they apply. Approved by the AEAT.

A till that balances

Sessions with their opening, their cash movements and their count at closing, with the difference recorded and its journal entry generated. No more notebook with the discrepancy scribbled in the margin.

The hardware you already have

Receipt printers, cash drawer, scale, barcode scanner and an integrated card terminal so the amount travels to the payment device on its own. Less typing is less queue and fewer charging errors.

Questions we get asked

What happens if the internet goes down mid-afternoon?
The point of sale session carries on working locally: you take payments, print and serve as usual, and when the connection returns everything syncs against the server. It is the feature that lets a counter trust Odoo.
Can an invoice with tax details be issued at the counter?
Yes. The customer is identified on the receipt itself and a full invoice is issued instead of a simplified receipt, with its numbering and its record. In Spain, on top of that, with the invoicing certification the law demands.
Is loyalty native or does it have to be integrated?
It is native: points programs, coupons and promotions with their rules are configured in Odoo itself and applied on the receipt. What we usually add is the connection with whatever you already have, if you come from another system.
How is the till balanced at closing?
With the session count: the cash is counted, Odoo compares it against what should be there and records the difference with its journal entry. Every session is closed and traced, with no manual carryovers the next day.
